Type: Meeting mention
The Planning Commission meeting involved a discussion regarding a request to subdivide property at 4832 Halifax Drive. The applicant proposed dividing the lot into two waterfront properties, which would require variances to address lot width and dockside setbacks. The commission discussed the feasibility of these variances, the potential for creating a 'flag lot' configuration, the necessity of demolishing an existing house, and alternative options such as shared riparian rights or easements. Staff recommended denial of the variances due to the lack of hardship, noting that other compliant subdivision options existed. The commission also reviewed letters of opposition and support from neighbors regarding the project.
